The Global Espionage Network of Elite Supernatural Intelligence & Surveillance, better known by its acronym G.E.N.E.S.I.S., is a U.N. sponsored, governmental military counter-terrorism and intelligence agency. G.E.N.E.S.I.S. was founded and currently ran by Director Elijah Bishop and secret council of U.N. representatives known as The Republic. 

History[]

In the late 1800’s, the existence of preternatural creatures and other mythical beings was confirmed and acknowledged by world governments. A group called The Hell Hunters was formed and became the first US government sanctioned monster hunters.

During World War I, the preternatural communities residing in the US, entered into an uneasy alliance with the government—the precursor to the Night Shift Treaty. In exchange for secretly helping in the war effort against Germany, they would be granted a reprieve from persecution.

After World War II, the group disbanded, due to the influence of spymaster, Elijah Bishop. He felt that the group wasn’t disciplined enough, nor large enough to successfully defend the country, let alone the world from any fall out by rogue preternaturals.

G.E.N.E.S.I.S. was founded to combat supernatural/preternatural and technologically advanced threats to world security, and has, throughout the years, remained a highly clandestine organization dedicated to maintaining the Night Shift Treaty, fighting supernatural terrorism and extraterrestrial menaces as an international intelligence agency.

In its early incarnation as The Hell Hunters, G.E.N.E.S.I.S. was originally affiliated solely with the United States government, but after the United Nations was established after WWII, it morphed into a UN sponsored ultra-clandestine organization. Veteran spy and Neo-Progeny, Elijah Bishop had established a report with the UN representatives and set forth plans for the organization’s formation. He felt the U.S. government alone wasn’t enough to handle what could become a global issue over time, as the number of preternaturals grew. The United Nations based, international group that became G.E.N.E.S.I.S. was agreed to be the most viable countermeasure against the nascent threat of rogue preternaturals. 

Bishop made it conditional that he be named the head of G.E.N.E.S.I.S. for life and that he would only answer to a secret order of the UN called the Republic. The identity of the members were purposefully hidden from him, but he used his empathic powers to learn their identities anyway. He hid his knowledge from them in an effort to give them some sense of authority. Otherwise, Bishop is the highest ranking agent and military figure in both G.E.N.E.S.I.SHistory Bishop eventually decided to avoid getting involved in politics, and rather than recruiting from among the espionage services of NATOor Warsaw Pactcountries, instead recruited a mixture of highly skilled soldiers and assassins, preternatural rebels, iconoclastic daredevils and rogue geniuses. A master manipulator, he exploited their gifts and often troubled pasts to persuade them to serve the agency. Over the course of its existence, G.E.N.E.S.I.S. developed a bitter feud with the Ring of Gyges. It is speculated that it stemmed from Bishop actively recruiting rogue members of the assassin's guild and using them to gather intelligence against the Ring of Gyges whenever it suited him.

The primary Central HQ of G.E.N.E.S.I.S. under Director Bishop is the Wheelhouse, located in Washington D.C. The exact location of other sattelite facilites are currently unknown.

G.E.N.E.S.I.S. personnel have access to an extensive catalogue of cutting edge technology, weapons and vehicles.

Human G.E.N.E.S.I.S. field agents are issued with a .40 cal automatic handgun, which fires rounds made from a unique mixture of silver, iron and solar irradiated minerals. This particular type of ammunition is effective in detering a wide range of preternatural creatures/beings as well as humans.
