History[]
Born on the south-side of Chicago, Illinois . Ebonee Blanco grew up in a single parent home in an inner-city neighborhood, with her mother, older brother and younger sister. Her father, Jerry Blanco, was killed by unknown assailants during a robbery in the neighborhood grocery store he owned. Ebonee excelled in school and graduated at the top of her High School class. She earned a scholarship to attend Bradley University however, because of her mother’s sudden illness, she was forced to attend Thompson-Hiser University instead. Ebonee graduated Suma Cum Laude and President of her college class. After college, she interned with the Chicago Tribune for a couple of years and was almost hired as permanent staff, however she was beaten out of the position by her rival—Kelli Logan. Kelli was willing to do anything to reach the top where Ebonee wasn’t willing to compromise her principles for anything or anyone.
Down on her luck, she began to self-publish a community newsletter which she later expanded into a popular and profitable blog called “Scenes from the Streetz.” Her already popular blog skyrocketed when she began writing about Shadow Rook—a mysterious vigilante, thought by many to be little more than an urban myth. In a chance encounter, Ebonee met the vigilante and since then has become his personal chronicler. Benton Steinberg III, publisher of the Chicago Daily News—an influential and popular tabloid newspaper began pursuing Ebonee, wanting to purchase her blog, instead she brokered a deal where the CDN sponsored her blog and she in turn gave them exclusive printing rights for whatever she wrote. Eventually, CDN gave Ebonee her own column called The Urban Perspective and she also earned the position of Senior Investgative Journalist.
Ebonee is currently involved in a relationship with Dr. James Boudreaux , an agent for G.E.N.E.S.I.S.
Powers and Abilities[]
Having grown up with an older brother and on the south-side of Chicago, Ebonee has seen her fair share of fights and is trained in African martial arts by Zaji Laveau . She is very much capable of handling her own against most average assailants of comparable size and strength.
